A proven marketing executive, Tom’s career spans 30 years broad based, multilevel experience in domestic & international hospitality sales, marketing and operations. A visionary and effective implementer, he successfully has led key initiatives for major brands, resorts, and upscale properties. His experience integrates marketing campaign creation, advertising leadership, and brand identity system direction. Key career “passion points” are:
· Global marketing program & promotion development · Brand Identity System definition, development and deployment · Loyalty program negotiating like AMEX Membership Rewards · International & co-op advertising – North/South America, Caribbean, Europe. · Travel Agent, wholesaler business generation by sales networks, international GSA oversight, GDS business building, and creating a centralized commission program. · Driving strategic alliances with American Express, AT&T, AAA, American Airlines, Dollar Rent a Car, Rail Europe, Visa and Warner Bros. · International relationship team building throughout Europe, Asia, South America. · Website creation and e-marketing campaign launches.
He also spearheaded sales & marketing initiatives in adjacent industries …Luxury Vacation Rentals, Cruise lines, and Car Rental.
Tom’s unique coaching methodology was successfully demonstrated recently at two resorts, Lodge & Spa at Cordillera (Vail, Colorado), and Hotel Kura Hulanda (Curacao, NA, Caribbean). He assumed leadership of sales and marketing functions at each property. Coming along side an existing team he challenged legacy plans, developing powerful new business tools. Fresh approaches dramatically improved performance, casting new vision for advertising, PR, branding, niche market development, collateral creation, and travel industry production. Growth at Kura Hulanda included energized Internet strategy, with dramatic increases in revenue, GOP, occupancy, and RevPar. There was huge leveraging optimization with Leading Hotels of the World, their “soft brand” as well.
Previous executive level affiliations include Prestige Resorts & Destinations, Utell International (now Pegasus Solutions), Best Western International, Howard Johnson Franchise System, Rodeway Inns International, Ramada and Days Inns of America.
An involved individual, Tom served on the Board of Directors-HSMAI, Pow Wow Planning Committee, Executive Board-Economy Lodging Council (AH&MA), Marketing Committee-Educational Institute (AH&MA), and the Board of the Hotel School at Georgia State University.
Tom received a BBA business degree from Eastern Michigan University; he now lives in Scottsdale Arizona with his wife Cynthia, where they have a grown daughter, Jennifer.
